A message from Chef Lucas
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The Red Store. Needless to say this year was a challenging one for us all. The restaurant industry has been tested and threatened in unprecedented ways. Since the pandemic emerged we have not been able to operate our restaurants in any semblance of normalcy. Thanks to your support we have been able to survive the past nine challenging months.
The General Store at Cape May Point has been a beloved fixture for locals for generations. Many of you have shared stories with us of your parents or grandparents coming here. We have called 500 Cape Avenue our home since 2011 and since then we have gotten to know many of you, had the pleasure of serving you, or the pleasure of working with you. Our team has included many talented local individuals and it is to their credit that we were able to build The Red Store to the dining destination that it has become with a James Beard nomination in 2014.
Deanna and I think of this only as a temporary setback. The Red Store is still alive with memories, is still online for your shopping needs, and we are already searching for a new home. Our mission has always been to celebrate life and our community through food, art, and craftsmanship, and we will continue to do so.
We want to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who love and support The Red Store and Bread+Butter Restaurant Group. Please continue to follow us on social media and subscribe to our emails so you’ll be first to know the news of the new direction for The Red Store. We wish you all health and safety, and we look forward to seeing you in 2021.
