The Red Store serves new American seasonal cuisine with seaside flare in beautiful Cape May Point.
For over a decade, creative duo Lucas Manteca and artist/designer Deanna Ebner have called Cape May home. Their passion for surfing, cooking, and nurturing the creative types around them has led Lucas and Deanna to own and operate the best restaurants in South Jersey, including Quahog's Seafood Shack, The Taco Shop (with two locations), and in 2019 the team opened Beachwood at the Dunes in Sea Isle. The newest member of the Bread+Butter Restaurant Group family is Dawgtown Dogs, opened in Rio Grande, in 2020.
Lucas's food is coastal-American at heart, but the menu at The Red Store reflects his Argentinian heritage and borrows ingredients from other South American cuisines. "My cuisine is based on simplicity. I try to respect the flavors, the shapes, the colors of each ingredient individually," he notes. "It's all about honest food and homey hospitality."
Lucas was nominated for the prestigious James Beard Award in 2014 for Best Chef in the mid-Atlantic region, and was recently named New Jersey's Local Food Hero by Edible Jersey magazine in recognition of his efforts to sustain the healthy bounty that defines the state.

Just steps away from the Lighthouse, the quaint Red Store building features 60 intimate seats and a serene patio, perfect for soaking up the Jersey sunshine. Be sure to save some time for perusing our shop, carefully curated by Deanna to carry local products from the South Jersey region, including our very own Smart Seasoning and Pickle Girl condiments. They are the perfect souvenirs of our picturesque town.
